Old Fashioned Hymn Lyrics: Wondrous Love

Here’s a song that goes through my head at some point almost every day. It’s an old song recently made popular by one of my favorite Bluegrass groups, Blue Highway. In 2003 they came out with this great all-gospel album, Wondrous Love. The album begins with the title song and ends with “The Old Rugged Cross”. In between are 11 other inspired songs, some written by band members. Beside the title song, I especially like “Ahead of the Storm” and “Seven Sundays in a Row”.

This old traditional song (from early 1800’s) sung acapella by Wayne Taylor with backup by Sonya Isaac and the Alan O’Bryant Choir.  As it is sung, it truly touches something deep inside me. But even without the music, it reads like the beautiful poetry that it is. Here are the lyrics:
